Design for Mobile
Today’s mobile devices have approximately one-tenth as many pixels as a regular screen. Form follows function, and in this case, a mobile site has its own design. These type of designs are in some ways simpler. Here are a few ways we adapt to mobile:
We use a single column layout.
We use minimal graphics; this save screen space and load time
We modify navigation, so there is more room for larger buttons
Certain features fit naturally for smartphones. Here is a list of functions that adapt well to mobile websites.
- Google maps
- Twitter feeds
- Photo galleries
- Video (keep in mind, video may load slowly on smart phones)
